Darwin's work is twofold. On the one hand, the collection of a large number of paleontological and biological data from which it introduces the idea of evolution. On the other hand, the formulation of the theory of natural selection to explain the evolutionary process. The idea of evolution was accepted by biologists almost immediately, but the theory of natural selection was discussed from the beginning.
Thanks to Darwin, "The Origin of Species" caused a great revolution in biology.
