Polar Bear

The polar bear is the largest land carnivore on earth. He lives in the middle and polar ice zone of the Northern Hemisphere. It is the only superpredator of the Arctic.

Is more elongated and have more developed legs than other bears, both walking and swimming long distances.

The ears and tail are very small, to keep better body warmer, like many others Artic mammals.

All polar bears are white, but the effect of light can appear brown, yellow or even light green.

They feed on fruits, plants, mussels and seaweed, but their preferred prey is seals, although occasionally catch walruses, and they are very robust animals: the average weight of females is 250 kg, and the males 350 kg.

THREATS:

The melting of ice caps has made polar bears a threatened species, because polar bears can't live if their habitat is destroyed, because they can't hunt, reproduce and survive. So believes the U.S. government, which has included in its list of endangered animals, although not include any measures to end this situation.
